Who we are
Lola is made and published from Malta. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean the publisher of Lola, and “you” means the person who buys or uses Lola.
You can reach us at [email protected].
Who sells you Lola
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Polar (Polar Software, Inc.), who is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Polar handles payment, invoicing and sales tax, and pays out any refund; questions about Lola, and refunds under our Refund policy, are handled by us.
When you pay, you buy Lola from Polar under its own buyer terms (polar.sh/legal/checkout-buyer-terms). The licence to use Lola is granted by us, under these terms. By completing a purchase or by using Lola, you accept both.
What Lola is
Lola is voice dictation for macOS. Hold or double-tap the Right Option key, speak, and the text is typed into whatever field has the cursor.
Lola runs on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 26.2 or newer. It does not run on Intel Macs. At first launch it needs an internet connection to download its speech and clean-up models.
Please use the free trial to check that Lola works well on your Mac before you buy.
What you buy
You buy a personal licence to use Lola, not the software itself. Lola remains our property, and we keep every right that these terms do not expressly give you.
The licence lets you, as 1 person, install and use Lola on up to 3 Macs that you own or control. If a company buys it, the licence is for 1 named person in that company.
Your licence comes with a personal licence key. Activating it needs the internet once. After that, the licence is checked on your Mac: offline for any length of time, Lola keeps working, and it checks the key with Polar again at most once a week, only when the network is there. The licence is withdrawn only if Polar answers that the key is invalid, disabled, refunded or not for Lola. Deactivating it in Settings frees the key for another Mac. The Privacy policy says exactly what these checks send.
Free trial
You can try the whole app free for 7 days, with no account. Once its models are downloaded, the trial needs no internet connection. To keep using Lola after the trial, you need a licence.
Price and taxes
Lola costs 39 EUR, paid once. There is no subscription and no account, and every update is included (see Updates).
During its launch, Lola is sold at a launch price of 19 EUR. The price that applies to your order is the one shown on this site and at checkout when you buy.
The final price, including any VAT or sales tax due in your country, is shown at checkout before you pay. Polar collects and pays that tax, and sends you the invoice.
Delivery
Right after payment, Polar emails you your receipt and your licence key; the key is also kept in your Polar customer portal. Lola itself is the app you download from this site. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder, then write to us or to Polar.
Lola is digital content delivered straight away. If you ask for immediate delivery and acknowledge that you then lose the legal 14-day right of withdrawal, that legal right ends once the download has started. In practice this changes nothing: our own 14-day refund promise still applies (see Refunds).
Refunds
You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, with no questions asked. When a purchase is refunded, its licence key is deactivated. The details, including your legal right of withdrawal, are in our Refund policy.
Updates
Every update we publish for Lola is included at no extra cost, for as long as we publish updates for Lola, with no upgrade fee.
Lola checks for updates only when you ask it to. Updates may add, change or improve features. We do not promise any particular feature or release date.
This does not reduce your legal right to the updates, including security updates, that are needed to keep Lola working as described.
Using Lola fairly
When you use Lola, please do not:
- share, sell, rent or publish your licence key, or use it on more than 3 Macs;
- get around or disable the licence check;
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer Lola, except where the law allows it without our permission;
- use Lola for anything illegal, for example transcribing other people without the consent the law requires.
You are responsible for the text you dictate and for where you send it. Speech recognition can make mistakes, so read your text before you send it.
Your own Anthropic key or Claude Code login (optional)
Lola works without any account or outside service: by default the clean-up runs on your Mac. If you choose, in Settings, to run it on your own Anthropic API key (“Anthropic API (your key)”) or on your own Claude Code login (“Claude Code (its login)”), the text of each dictation (never the audio) is sent to Anthropic for the clean-up pass, under your own key or login and Anthropic's terms. That relationship is between you and Anthropic: Anthropic bills any usage to you, or counts it against your own plan.
Our responsibility
If you buy as a consumer, you have the legal guarantees that apply to digital content in your country, including the legal guarantee of conformity. Nothing in these terms limits them, and we are liable to you as the law provides.
If you buy for your business, our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid for the licence, and we are not liable for indirect loss such as lost revenue, lost data or lost opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Ending the licence
Your licence has no end date. You can stop using Lola at any time.
If you seriously break these terms, for example by publishing your licence key, we may deactivate that key after telling you why, at the email address used for the order.
If a purchase is refunded or charged back, its licence ends and its key is deactivated.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. The terms in force on the day you bought Lola apply to that purchase, and a later version only applies to it if it is more favourable to you or if you accept it.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Malta. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live (Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, Rome I, article 6).
If something goes wrong, please write to us first at [email protected]. We will do our best to put it right.
If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve your complaint together, you can bring it, free of charge, to the Office for Consumer Affairs of the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA), which tries to settle complaints between consumers and traders by conciliation: mccaa.org.mt/file-a-consumer-complaint/. If conciliation fails, claims up to 10,000 EUR can go to Malta's Consumer Claims Tribunal. If you live in another country, the consumer bodies of your country may also help.
You can also go to court. As a consumer living in the European Union, you can bring a claim before the courts of the country where you live or before those of Malta, and we can bring a claim against you only before the courts of the country where you live (Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012, Brussels I bis, article 18).
