Questions
Asked before buying.
Does Lola work offline?
Yes, once its models are downloaded on the first launch. Dictation and the clean-up run on your Mac with no connection. Your licence needs the network once, to activate; after that, being offline for any length of time never costs it.
Does anything leave my Mac?
No, not by default. The only exceptions are choices you make in Settings: your own Anthropic API key or your Claude Code login, for a stronger clean-up. Then the text of each dictation is sent to Anthropic. Your audio never leaves.
Which Macs does it run on?
Apple silicon (M1 or later) with macOS 26.2 (Tahoe) or later. 16 GB of memory is recommended; 8 GB works with a lighter speech model, with Personal and the tones off until you turn them on in Settings. It takes up to 6 GB of disk. Intel Macs are not supported.
Is it a subscription?
No. €19 launch price, €39 after launch, paid once. Every update included, no account.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase, for any reason. The refund policy says how, and who to ask. Refund policy
Why not the dictation built into macOS?
Lola removes filler, fixes punctuation, writes in the mode you chose and checks every rewrite before typing it. All of it on your Mac.
More questions 10
Which languages does it understand?
28. Declare up to 3 at once, for example your own, English and one more, and Lola recognises each dictation’s language by itself. The clean-up edits French, English and Russian; the other 25 are typed exactly as recognised.
Can I mix English into my language?
In French, yes, inside the same sentence and in every mode: English words stay English. Every rewrite is checked against 129 common English words and the words in your vocabulary, and one that translates them is thrown away. In Russian, add the English words you use to your vocabulary to keep them in Latin letters. In the other languages, switch from one dictation to the next: mixing inside a sentence has not been measured.
Which apps does it work in?
Any app where you can type: mail, chat, documents, a browser, notes, a terminal. The text goes to the field that has the cursor. Lola stays out of password fields.
What does Personal change?
Filler, repeats and a sentence you restated go; grammar and spoken syntax are fixed. Your register and every fact stay, and no fact is added. It adapts through what you set (your vocabulary, your spellings, your English words, your ban list, your languages), and nothing is trained on your voice or your text. It never introduces a word from your ban list; say one yourself and it is typed.
What do the tones do?
They change how it is said, which Personal never does: Professional, Friendly, Confident, Concise and Warm. The facts stay, and the same check guards your English words. Hold Right Option to step to the next mode: the pill shows the one you armed, and it stays armed in every app until you change it.
What if the clean-up gets it wrong?
Every rewrite is checked before it reaches your field. One that translates you, changes a number or rewrites more than it should is thrown away. A refused tone falls back to Personal, a refused Personal to a lighter clean-up, and the last resort is your own words. The same goes for anything that fails between the microphone and the field: you get the raw transcript, never an empty field.
Can I get my exact words?
Yes. History keeps the raw transcript of every dictation: right-click it to copy it. For a shell command or a file path, copy it from there, or turn off “Auto-clean” and then “Tidy filler words anyway” in Settings.
Can I cancel, or hold the key instead?
Yes. Esc cancels a dictation and nothing is typed. Prefer to hold the key while you talk? Switch to hold-to-talk in the menu bar, or pick another key.
What does the trial include?
The whole app, for 7 days, with no account and no card. Once its models are downloaded, the trial needs no connection.
Is the example up top real?
Yes. It is real output of Lola’s clean-up model on a Mac, 29 September 2026. The clean-up runs on a small model on your Mac and is conservative: when in doubt, it keeps your words. It edits French, English and Russian; the other 25 languages are typed exactly as you say them.
